First thing first, it's been two weeks long and finally we got the newest episode of The Witch From Mercury. There is a sudden leak in episode 18 which makes some of us know the plot before the other and makes spoilers run amok in the Gundam group. Regardless, it's still great that we got the continuation after the long two weeks hiatus of our precious space Tanuki on screen. Well, I am not expecting that Suletta will take the depression after losing fairly well rather than what I thought she will be. She is still attending the class, asking some question regarding to the lecture, and even enjoying lunch with her fellow earthian friends. Interestingly enough, the most hater of spacian in the group; chu-chu thinks that she have been hurting inside and tries to hold the pain deep inside. Suletta has been considering herself as not worthy to become Miorine's groom and rather than crying her heart out she prefers to let Miorine go; believing in her decision. I think it's true to her character.. she is timid to begin with. Being a low esteemed individual, also plays a part on how she think about herself. When she first entered the academia, she never thought that she will be the groom of a high profile person in the academia and in the end, she becomes truly captivated with her bride. Many viewers think that she will decent into a path of madness; in which she will become the villain of the story and yet that's sound a bit not possible. This timid little girl is not an idiot but she can be a bit too kind (and can I say has low self confidence) that she even considers herself is at fault for thinking that she is worthy of such status.
Move forward and got two they said..I mean the sadness .. you move forward and get double the pain |

Our empty shelf is an interesting title for this episode and it actually has a deeper meaning behind it. Not only it pictures Suletta who feels empty without her status as a holder and lose contact to someone she holds dear, Lauda from Jeturk also has a similar situation to her. He admires his half brother being the real leader of Jeturk but in reality he feels bitter because when his brother takes the throne back, people says behind his back that the younger brother lacks the capabilities as Jeturk's successor. After the sudden appearance of Gundam in Asticassia, he got injured and almost lose his life; but surviving because of Chu-chu's help. It's nice to see they take enough time to give a screentime and a bit character depth into Lauda as he also embodies the empty shelfes of this episode. He even personally thanks Chu-chu for helping him; making the other Jeturk peps have enough respect to her. They have been on bad term before and now the Jeturks thanked her for the eagerness to help those in need. This makes her also develop as a character as she grows to have more empathy than before.
Suletta can't get more depressed ain't she? well, actually this episode hurts more than what she can endure..Chu-chu and the earth house encourages her to meet directly with Miorine, and to talk her feeling directly. Alas, during her search, she stumbles upon an open cockpit of Aerial as if inviting her to get inside. The truth opens as Erict "talks" to Suletta about her origin. After a few experiments with the Lfirth, Prospera creates engineered children (clones) who looks like the actual Erict Samaya with Suletta as the last one. As Erict's child body can't endures the exposure of data storm any longer, Prospera links her consciousness into permet and put it in the data storm ..along with children of covents (a.k.a the other 11 Erict's Samaya clones) who residing in each Gun bits system. The truth is finally here...Prospera intends to raise the permet score of Aerial to level 8 score so that the Erict Samaya soul inside the Aerial can take full control of the mobile suit; making it a fully conscious, living mobile suit which can automatically moves by itself. Yes..Prospera's real intention to get her child back in the living world; even if it's not the same Erict Samaya that we know from episode prologue.
Elnora is not entirely at fault here..she loves her daughter so much that she goes to the path of demon |
Poor Suletta can't believe with this revelation..Erict Samaya soul says that she is the key to raise the permet score of Aerial..and her usefulness is running out. Soon, Erict will replace Suletta and moves by herself; needing her no longer. Then, the Gundam rejects Suletta by ejecting her to the space.. Prospera talks with Eri's about whether they should leave Suletta behind. Alas, it seems that Eri also has an intention to let Suletta achieve her freedom. Prospera comes to Suletta; who is currently floating in the space, telling her to get back at the academia, continue her study and have fun at the school. Afterwards, after leaving a Morse device floating, she leaves Suletta alone and head to the Aerial. Meanwhile the spaceship that takes Miorine and Guels departs to the earth; not knowing any problem they will encounter in the earth. Nonetheless, Suletta never wants this kind of freedom..Back then, the idea of Miorine asking her to step away is already quite frightening to her and now she is being left alone..with neither her bride nor families.
She got her freedom but at what cost? her happiness is actually being close with those she held dear ( T -T) |
This episode is another emotional episode with more revelation being opens for the audiences. For one, I feels the pain that Suletta undergoes as she can't contain her sadness anymore; bawling endlessly on the space. There is also additional scenes that this episode cover such as Martin; who unknowingly, tells the haro that he knows about Nika's secret. This leading out to Secelia dote comes out from behind the counter and prepares to ask him directly about it. There is another scene in which Elan tries to dodge Norea's attack after intentionally mock her. In addition, This episode unveils the next Gundam; a hidden project from Jeturk company, dubbed as the 'schwarzette'. This Gundam is secretly made by Guel's father; Vim Jeturk, that even Guel surprises his company actually own a gundam. Those additional scenes may lead to more events for the next episode and soon we are going to witness if Miorine's plan going to work or fail spectacularly. Can our space Tanuki finds the answer of her existence? For one, I thought being a clone is not such a big deal..One doesn't even need to go down the path of vengeance to be a hero/heroine that we need lol. In fact, She is still a living individual as she is capable to harbor an infatuation to someone; the feeling to protect someone dear to her. It's time for our space Tanuki to rise up and carve her destiny with her own hands.
