The second episode of King hero turned into extraordinary squares follows Inglis rune baptism ceremony. Inglis knows very well that Rune is the essence of mana that enable a person to use the power of an artifact. Meanwhile her own body is overflowing with Aether which is actually far superior than the rune. Unknown to her parents though, her inability to get a specific runes symbolize that she will never achieved a greater rank in knighthood. The realization of Inglis has no capabilities using the artifact doesn't sit well with her parents. They believe in their daughter's talents and deemed something wrong with the Runic gear. A small grin beaming on Inglis delicate little mouth as she know all along that her Aether will block the flow of mana; which render the runic inscription off. In addition, Inglis states that rune is a mere child play compared to her ability to manipulate Aether and to change the essences according to her liking. She doesn't need one to be powerful. In fact, having no rune only made her happier as she can stay away from being promoted on the higher rank in knighthood.
meh...it's just a rune ..no big deal

This event of runic baptism reminds me so much of the firebrand ceremony from a game Saga Frontier 2. In that Game, the main protagonist (Gustav) was unable to lit a fire using his anima; which was a very crucial as he was the future king. In that game every human was born with an anima..just similar to the world of the king, anime allowed an ordinary human casting mana. Since not a single amount of anima resided in Gustave's body, he was considered lower than even a mere stone..because stone itself emit an anima. He was later banished from his kingdom; relinquished from his throne, and had to live as an outcast. Fortunately, in Inglis era, having no rune inscribed on you arm only means that s/he had no talent in using mana so there is no persecution or banishment for our little King. She didn't act sad and instead she sweet talk them saying that she doesn't mind becoming Rani's shield in the future; making them warmly touched with her resolution.

Yuri lover calm down... she's an old man inside a young girl body ๐Ÿ˜‚

The story continues few years after the rune ceremony with both Inglis and Rani grow into teenagers. They went together into a ballroom party and found them as the center attention from the party. The interesting part here is Inglis acknowledges that in her previous life, she sometimes also gazed on beautiful girls; which in turns made her felt embarrassed as suddenly she had become the center of the attention herself. In term of relationship, Inglis herself confirms that her doting attention to Rani is closer to a parental love than a sibling love and she had no interest to get acquainted with a person from different gender (maybe because he remembers so well of her past of being an old man)

motto motto .hurt me more

This episode introduced two new important characters. The first one is the holy knight, Leon's; who worked together with Rafael, and Eris the Hieral menace, an artifact crafted by the highlander; which take form as a beautiful young lady. In addition to the new cast, Inglis once again meet with her "arc-enemy" Rahl; who rose to the rank of Highlander through bribery and he acted more chaotic than before. Although he had joined a higher caste of Highlander, he still remember the humiliation that he had to endure during his teenage years especially after the younger Inglis beat him in the training match. Within just a few minutes, he already made a strong conviction that he wanted to stir trouble by grilling the inspector;Lord Shioni, the reason? is just because he tried to defend a reluctant Ada; the sub leader of the city's chivalry order, to whom Rahl asked for his companion through the night.
Once again Inglis can't let the crock overstep his visit and challenges him into a duel. Rahl accept on one condition : She had to come alone to his villa.

I hope she didn't try Saitama next xD

In my opinion, the plot twist of Leon being the bad guys is quite predictable. In most scenario, the bad wolf in the sheep clothing  usually is the one of the newly introduced character and to various extend, he/she appears kind and reasonable; masking a deeper vile intention to the viewer. Still, it's worth an applause with the way he blasted Eris using her glove artifact out of sudden. While Leon being enemy is not surprising, his moves of hurting the person that he knows for quite a time makes a splash of a plot twist, although I don't believe he has a capacity of being the series' big bad either because just like Rahl, he seems more like a steeping stone for Inglis to prove her prowess in swordman-ship. Inglis always feels excited fighting against stronger opponent and she had the skills to back up her antics; further cementing her Mary sue thrope. This episode only further the thrope as she can withstand Eris' assault and shows her "talent" which is manipulating Aether. On top of that she got more and more happier whenever she got a bit injured. Off course it manages to give a great laugh with how disappointed she is after Eris realizes about her latent power and let her continues battling Rahl alone. She thought Eris will be a great challenge for her skill and yet she chooses to step aside ๐Ÿ˜‚ making Inglis banging her head in regret ever spilling her ability๐Ÿ˜‚ In one short conclusion of today's episode, it is plain dumb in execution..as it forces the drama (like Rahl burning the inspector) to move the plot forward yet ...just like G Gundam; it's a dumb but fun type of anime

  1. I think there's a translation error in your subtitles, because it's not what it's told in Crunchyroll's subtitles. King Inglis never married and never got children on his own, so no daughter ^^

    1. Thank you very much for the correction. I never read the original manga (well I tried to avoid knowing the plot twist actually). Therefore, I didn't realize that there is differences between one translation group to another..Btw tyvm for the info
