Forget about the house xD lets find a caretaker; Dragon goes house hunting episode 5 impression

Just for a reminder of the last episode, Letty found an egg while he was left on the icy tundra and from it, hatched a small and cute bird like creature which instantly called Letty “papa”. Even before the end of the episode, I already guessed that by the end of this episode, Letty will take care of the baby as his own (which I think is kind of predictable) Well before I gave my impression of the latest episode, I will give a synopsis for the current episode.

Gotta catch them all..POKEMON

The episode started with the party entering a new region; leaving the icy region as well as Letty’s igloos behind. The focus on this episode was a communal housing, which means a place in where several families live together as a neighbor in a single apartment like building protected by a landlord who protects them from human. After Letty experienced different houses that were built for a single person, this time around Dearia wanted him to live in a community. Before that going, Dearia congratulated Letty for his newborn baby bird which Letty instantly said that it was not his baby. Dearia further explained that since Letty was the first living creature that the baby saw, so it’s already imprinted Letty’s image as its “papa” and it was impossible to reverse it. Letty still worried that even if he wanted to be the parent, his cowardice and inability to act as normal dragon might be a problem as a caretaker. He thought that he was not good and strong enough as a parent and the baby might not survive with him as its parent. Therefore, he asked if there were other creatures who would love to raise the baby bird as their own child.

When a warm story suddenly turned into a horror u be like

Dearia brought along the Dragon and his little baby to a Regulus Gorge to find a replacement parent for the baby bird. It was a communal housing in where several creatures shared living together under the same neighborhood. It was actually built for smaller creatures because a gigantic creature might have difficulty living together due to his/her enormous size (not to mention that bigger creatures usually had louder voices). However, Letty was considered smaller than the other dragon so I think he might fit in well. The scene continues with them meting different species that residing in the community housing. First, they met a wolf who had two heads and both of them like to act as if they were a married couple (despite the fact that they were actually brothers who share a body). At the beginning they thought that the little bird would not make a loud sound if it lives with them. Yet, the baby suddenly shouted the loud “PAPA’ because it didn’t like of them saying that it was too small to make a loud voice. Afterward they met another resident like Empusa and her sister Lamia (which the later didn’t like another pet in the house), a Manticore (whose children seem so dangerous for a little bird because they were carnivore), two korpukkurs (little girls like creature whose look like those small people in Gulliver adventure). Unfortunately, they hunt fowl for eating which made Letty’s afraid about the little bird survival. And lastly, they met a were-panther who obsessed with training (Letty’s worried if the little bird may get a ripped body if it stays with him for too long)

a "tasty' cute little sibling :D

While they were resting after unable to find a foster parent, a bugbear along with his two sons came and asks Dearia to help him renovate his house. After that, Dearia asked Letty to stay put and guard his baby bird and the bugbear sons while the two of them were leaving to check the house. A Catoblepas moves closer and asked Letty to give the baby bird because he wanted to sell it to dwarves. Letty gathered all his remaining bravery and threatens the monster, saying that he will breathe fire to him and protect both his little bird and the two small bugbears. While it fails miserably, his bravery to step aside his cowardice to protect the younger creatures got more plus point from Dearia. He then told the Catoblepas that Letty was just acting because actually he was the famed red dragon king. The same king who breathe fire to heroes’ party and razing village using his legendary might and protecting his den like a mad dragon (cue to the last episode). The Catoblepas became frightened and leave the scene due to the false rumor. The episode closed with Dearia telling Letty that he should have raise the little bird by himself because it seems like the bird already takes a liking on him. Letty afterward named the little bird “PIP” and he finally decided to keep and raise the bird.

His own tongue cant handle his own fire breathe @-@

Episode Review

I think I started to get what this anime tried to sell after seeing the last three episodes. In my honest opinion, it may not capable on making a smart comedy so instead it focuses on the warmth feeling of companionship. Letty was depicted as a person who suddenly had the little baby came into his life. At the beginning he never felt that the bird was a burden but he was having a confidence crisis instead. He was worried that his cowardice may affect the baby bird survival chance so he tried to give it to better parents. By the end of the episode, Letty finally accepted the baby into his circle and he finally moved on from his insecurity. The anime also told us that even Letty knew that at a crucial moment, he had to do his best to protect his child despite that he was extremely scared from the Catoblepas’ pressure. I am kind of conflicted with this anime. I don’t really like the direction of the laugh or comedic pattern. Yet, it also had a warmhearted feeling which make it more suited to an anime with drama genre. Still, I guess we still halfway in the series. Therefore, I hope we got something more from the later episodes.
