Devil May Cry.... but this Pearl will never-ever Cry; Legend of Mana Teardrop of Crystal Episode 8 Impression

Synopsis

Both Shiloh and Ruri entered Shinju-hime's room and searched frantically for her as she was no longer in her room. Ruri got angry to Shiloh and interrogated him on spot about Serafina's action for taking Esmeralda's core. Shiloh tried to defend Serafina by saying that she must be Sandra in disguise. By then, he noticed a letter at the top of the table. It said that the precious pearl had been taken to Mekiv cave.

The scene moved forward to the Mekiv cave where both Shiloh and Ruri got surrounded by skeleton warriors. At one point, one of the enemy disarmed Ruri's sword. He still had a a sword in his back yet he hesitated to pull it off from the sheath until Shiloh helped him from an incoming attack. Shiloh asked Ruri why he didn't pull out his other sword at such dangerous time. Ruri explained that it was not an ordinary sword but a sword named "Sword of Fate" and it can only be used once. Despite it limit, it was very sharp and cut through anything so Ruri planned to use it only for a worthy opponent and not just some ordinary cave monsters.

They went further inside the cave and met with a creature who was searching through a pile of stone. It seemed like the creature was looking for a good stone as when he saw Ruri, he said that he looked quite beautiful (he might refer to Ruri's lapis core in his chest). Shiloh asked the creature if he had seen a girl passing through and the creature pointed his finger to the straight path leading to the middle cave room to where he saw them. They went inside and Ruri can felt Shinju-hime presence nearby. As he shouted to her name, a familiar voice said that she was here.

   

            What are you? A mermanoid?

I'm front of them, Sandra was standing beside Shinju-hime who she had taken as a hostage. Ruri instantly unsheathed his sword of Fate and moved forward. Sandra pushed Shinju-hime forward and Shiloh grabbed her from falling. As Ruri jumped to attack Sandra, her well timing stab pierce the middle of Ruri's lapis; creating a crack on Ruri's life core. As he laying in floor, Shinju-hime closed her eyes; unable to see her knight in a life and death situation. Sandra just moved closer to Shinju-hime Hime and opened her hand so that she could look at Ruri laying at the ground(Shiloh was checking on Ruri at this time). Sandra persuaded Shinju-hime to cry as her tears would cure his wound. However, Shinju-hime decided not to cry even if he was one of her closest companion.

Sandra was angered with her reply and prepared to stab her pearl yet at the right timing, Shiloh parry her dagger and challenged her to fight. This time around, Shiloh tried his best and tried to land as many hit as he could. He asked Sandra if she was the one responsible for taking Esmeralda's core. The treasurer huntar lady just replied that she didn't do it personally yet she admitted that she was behind Serafina's action. As Shiloh continued his attack, his two handed sword struck the cave floor. Sandra instantly used her acrobatics to get behind Shiloh and put her dagger to Shiloh`s neck. Sandra said to Shinju-hime that the boy in front of her might be her another important friend so she decided to sacrificed Shiloh. Then, she stabbed Shiloh right shoulder from behind and making him bleed. Not enough with the shoulder, Sandra also stabbed Shiloh's right leg making him writhing in pain. Sandra stand up and moved closer to Ruri who was laying on the floor. Ruri tried to take off his sword but before the sword was completely out from the sheath, Ruri's arm strength failed him as he was very at that moment. Sandra gave him a choice who he wanted to save; Shinju-hime or himself. Without hesitation Ruri told her that he was Shinju Hime knight and he asked her to finish him of.

Just as Sandra was about to take the cracked Lapis Lazuli stone in Ruri chest, there was a sudden change in the air as suddenly Shinju-hime was engulfed with a dark thypon. After the the wind gone, a figure appeared holding a long spear-like hammer on her. Shiloh instantly noticed her as the figure he and Shinju-hime saw back at the Leiren tower. The lady moved forward; she was one of the strongest Jumi knight and she was no longer the Shinju-hime (who was dorky and had bad direction) but the Lady BlackPearl (let's short it to lady Pearl from now on). Even her aura was threatening enough to make Sandra move away from Ruri.

Sandra tried to leave as soon as possible and to stall her, he unleashed three jewel beasts. Without breaking any sweet, Lady Pearl defeated the three monsters each with a single blow. Shiloh was in awe watching how powerful lady Pearl was. Lady Pearl got closer to Ruri and said that Shinju-hime was already gone and he was free now. Ruri tried to follow Lady Pearl who walked away yet he was in a very bad shape at that moment and soon after lost his conciousness. After both Sandra and Lady Pearl left the scene, the same creature that they met before came into the area. He said that Ruri's life was in danger and he didn't want the beautiful stone to dead. Henceforth, he teleported both Ruri and Shiloh back to Shiloh's home.

When level 40 huntress met lvl 98 Paladin

In Shiloh's home, Bud and Corona treated Shiloh injuries and made Ruri resting. In the following days, Shiloh met with Master Duelle and explained about his newest adventures. Master Duelle said that he need to cast off his unimportant business and focus on the one he deemed most important. After hearing his advice, Shiloh heard Bud's voices asking Ruri not to go. Shiloh went to them and asked him to stay because he still has not recovered fully. Shiloh asked Ruri if he knew all along that Shinju-hime host lady Pearl with her but Ruri did not want to say anything; saying that Shiloh did not have any business on this. 

Pearl played whack-a Mole expect it was bigger

In the next morning, Bud and Corona frantically told Shiloh that Ruri had vanished from his bed. It seemed that he went away secretly from the two little magicians when they were sleeping. Shiloh immediately went to Domina and asked Rachel if she had seen Ruri yet she didn't know. Just then Duelle appeared and told him that Ruri had been walking to the tower of Leires from Sunrise to search for a certain lady. In front of Leires tower, Ruri walked staggery toward the entrance. When he was about to fall, Shiloh caught his arm and told him that it was no longer only Ruri business anymore. Ruri told Shiloh that he could felt lady Pearl presence inside the tower. Therefore, they went inside the tower together, ready to take whatever challenge they will find inside the tower

Review

This episode had more fighting the monsters sequence than the usual episode with both Shiloh and Ruri took bunch of monsters even at the beginning of the episode. The action sequence was not too bad but still need more polish as the focus from this episode seemed related more on the drama between the protagonists with Sandra. Unfortunately, This episode still has not answered Serafina's decision to steal Esmeralda's cores although Sandra admitted that she was the one responsible for her action. In addition, the fight between Shiloh and Sandra had been updated so that he look more capable to handle her power than before no more Mr one-hit getting knocked out today🤣 .

You should exchange roles xD Ruri needs to be the Hime

What kind of disappointment here was how easily Ruri fell for Sandra's trap and how she made him injured just by a single tap to his core. Not to mention that after Sandra got behind Shiloh, she capable to turn the situation and injured him on spot. It made the protagonists look very weak compared to the villainess. If not because the full powered Pearl entering the fight, i doubt we will see Shiloh and Ruri again in the next episode. A strong plot armor protected both them as the angry Pearl single handledly destroyed three jewel beasts and forced Sandra to run away.

The fight sequence was definitely better than usual but it still didn't satisfy me enough as it seemed happened and ended quite fast . The only thing that makes this episode reedemable was the appearance of Lady Pearl who had been spoiled for quite some times and how she was quite powerful. She was strong enough to make even Sandra shudder with fear. Another thing happened in this episode was the introduction of a merman like character who looks like a hunchback from Notredame from behind. Well..actually that Merman look like char was one of the important NPCs in the Jumi's event yet I prefer not to say his identity at this moment. Better said it after the next episode because he was a big spoiler. With the next anime airing for another few hours, I think this review was very late but here it is 😁. I will try to work the next one faster (if possible xD)
