Synopsis

The episode 8 of Witch from Mercury started at the Earth house where the Earthian students discussed about the emerging of Miorine Inc. The Gund Arms inc. Out of the sudden the white haired princess and her pet tanuki (Suletta ;p) entered the place with few paint spots on their clothes. She instantly announced that from today the Earth house would be the base of Gund Arm inc and the students in that place would be it's employees. Ojelo tried to reject the idea by saying that they haven't decided anything yet Miorine replied every person there would get their pay checks. Aliya asked her though if she already knew what would she do with the Gund Arm.inc. Unfortunately, Miorine still haven't decided with the company's objective and she intended to think about it for a while.

The next scene showed Chu-chu in her mobile suit tried to cut a steel using a chainsaw and she used all of her emotion into the swing. She displeased that Miorine had suddenly "kidnap" the entire Earth house to be the staff of Gund-arms Inc. In contrast to her displease, Nika commented that as long as she could work on analyzing the Aerial, she would be ok with the job. She also added that the work would make the Eartian capable to show that they could work as good as the Spacian. The other Earthian still undecided about taking the Job. Martin for example still worried about Gundam as it was cursed and he didn't want any part of it. Meanwhile, Miorine and Suletta met with Lady Prospera. Miorine asked her about the spec of Gundam so that she could learn more about it. After giving her all of the data that she acquired until now, Prospera told them that due to the complexity of Gund Arm format, the mass producing of Aerial was not possible for the time being. Suletta asked her mother if she had a reason to lie to her about the fact that Aerial was a Gundam. Prospera calmly stood up and open her cybernetic arm. She took it of and just grab it in her biological hand while asking Suletta if her "Metallic" arm frightened her. Just after Suletta replied that it didn't make her afraid, Prospera replied that just like her arm, other people were afraid of something that they barely know; the same rule apply to the Gundam too. In people minds, Gundam was a cursed machine that took the life of it's pilot and instead of thinking about how to lift the curse, they preferred to burry it all along. Prospera told Suletta that she intended to protect both Suletta and Aerial from its abomination curse. It made Suletta cast away her doubt for her mother's motivation even though Miorine still had a doubtful eyes to her.

When they boarded the train back to their place, Miorine asked Sulleta why she did not ask a more important question like how Sulleta had no problem piloting the unit although Gund format machine was hazardous for ordinary human being. Miorine asked if the mistery behind that fact frightened her. The red haired girl just replied that it was not a problem at all because she was raised along with Aerial that she considered it as a family. Just then Shaddiq zenelly came and greet them. Miorine warned Suletta not to say anything to him. Shaddiq calmly replied that Miorine should be worrying about her company's lack of direction instead and the fact that the investors did not put money in Gund Arm Inc as philanthropists. He gave a proposal to Miorine about him taking over the company handling as he got capital and personil to back him up. Like any savvy business woman, Miorine asked about his condition. Shadic just replied about her being married to him. Suletta surprised with his reply though Miorine herself didn't blush or even show a bit of reaction. By then the train had arrived on Shaddiq's destination so he said good bye to them.

The earthians or who we called today as Gund Arm inch employees were having a small meeting about the company's program. After discussing about the high cost of producing a single pharact unit (which was too costly to begin with) and the impossibility to mass producing Aerial, they tried to find the mission of the company. At one point, they talked about the possibility to sell the Gundam as a weapon. Tension get higher as some of them had different opinions about using the Gundam as a weapon. At first Miorine told them if the company might sell it as a weapon and anyone disagree with her should left the company but after finding out that she was actually "the only person who just happened to be in Earth house due to Suletta" and with her having no support from the entire Earth house, she decided to postpone giving the company's sole objective. Instead Miorine gave the members of the house earth different work like setting up a company logo, creating company PV, opening a bank account, etc within two weeks limit.

Scene moved to Guel Jeturk who was being bullied by some male students who treated her as a loser who could not maintain his status. Shaddiq came and made the bullies leave the place. He gave him an invitation to join his house and said that he admired him. Yet, Guel just threw away his invitation (after Shaddiq left) because he didn't need a pity from anyone. The camera moved to Shaddiq who got a call from his father. The man told him that he already sent his Michaelis (Shaddiq's personal combat unit) as well as anti Gundam weapons to the house. In addition he expected Shaddiq to erradicate the Gundam as soon as possible. After the conversation, Shaddiq sighed and said about how narrow his father's mind can be.

Miorine; who wondered about the Gundam's purpose, went to Peil technology and met directly with Belmeria Winston. Bel explained that she too was enchanted with Vanadis institute's vision of Gund Format back then. After hearing Bell's explanation and thinking back about it, Miorine went to her tomatoes plantation. Shaddiq came and offered her another proposal to work together. He mentioned that some people that he knew would pay dearly for a machine stronger than those made by both Peil and Jeturk technologies. He even mentioned how they used to work together making a business plan until both of their fathers rejected their idea. He believed that by joining hand, both Miorine and him would surpass both of their fathers. 

Shaddiq tried so hard to impress Miorine

Back to the Earth house, the two weeks time limit had ended and Miorine still did not appear in the Earth house. After Nuno commented that she might already running away to earth, she appeared with a remark that they miss her already. Finally Miorine gave two solutions to the table. The first one was selling the Gundam as a weapon. And the other option was using the same original purpose from the Vanadian Institute's vision; making a health enhancement medical equipment using the Gund Arms technology (similar to the bionic arm that Prospera wearing). This time around, all of the Earth house students agreed with the last solution that they would produce a medical equipment using Gund Format technology. Even Chu-chu agreed that; with many of her Earthian companions who had lost their arm and leg from mining injuries, it would be a great ideas to sell medical equipments to help them in the end.

The last scene showed both of Suletta and Miorine ridding a scoter together; bringing along boxes of lunch with them. Suddenly Miorine asked Suletta to stop the scoter after reading a message from her phone. There was a new regulation effective immediately that every new projects or start up business need a health verification; which made her startup business had a problem to start operating. The scene moved to the house of Grassley. Shaddiq along with the members of his harem (subordinate) were talking that the new regulation would made Miorine reacted to it. They were prepared all along that another duel would be coming since every dispute could be solved through a mobile suit match. It obvious that Miorine rejected Shaddiq's invitation to work together before and knowing that there was no other way, Shaddiq decided to take Aerial by force if needed.

Review

I am enjoying this episode despite it once again focus on the story building and characterization. This episode develops other characters from Earth house like Ojelo (with his love for money) or Nuno (who was a war orphan but had no problem selling Gundam as a weapon). I'm chill with it because it did not have to follow the same old pattern like G Gundam which each episode must have a fight between mobile suits to be entertaining. I knew that the anime's direction may not satisfy everyone; especially those who come to watch the mobile suit in action. However, the story telling would make the next battle had more importance to it. It made a good reason for Miorine to start another duel with the reality that Shaddiq deliberately trying to stop her company while the later expected to get the challenge so that he had a reason to retrieve the Aerial.

The fact that they developed Shaddiq here was good and he had quite a history with Miorine although the later seemed already forgotten about it (which we knew after seeing this episode). The episode even developed him further; telling the audience that he had a big respect to Guel and how he didn't like his father one way thinking toward the Gundam. In addition to Shaddiq, Miorine got another focus episode in this episode as she had to find the correct ideal for her company mission which had to be reasonable enough so that the other Earthians didn't leave the company. She had quite a trouble to find a solution in this episode but thankfully by the end of it, she proved that she was capable to find a good reason to continue the company

Prospera represents everyone's reaction who watched Gund Arm Inc PV

Still, there was a mystery here as Suletta didn't recognized professor Cardo Nabo from the Vanadian institute's Promotional Video. In the prologue chapter, the four years old Erict Samaya (or who was supposed to be Sulleta's name back then) knew her and they had a close bond. Yet, here she acted as if it was her first time seeing Cardo's face. Some fans speculated that Suletta and Eric Samaya was a different person all along because even if she had not meet her for long (Note she already deceased a long time ago), at least Suletta should felt that she had already met the old lady somewhere. This anime had lots of mystery waiting to be unfold and I am glad that it developed most of the characters with enough proportions. I'll be waiting again for the next episode and going to enjoy the next episode very much ☺️
