An Idol who idolizing a fan and vice versa ,Ningen Fushin episode 8 Impression
Well, too be honest Fushin ningen is a bit underappreciated for an anime series. Even I am quite lost at finding what is the good side of this anime until I found out that the strengths of this anime lies entirely on its character depth. No wonder it's hard for me to grasp the context because it looks like an adventure, saving the world, isekai type of anime but on a deeper insight, it's always about the cast's relationship and what makes them their own character. This episode actually focuses more on a character that only appears for few episodes; Belle Huggins. I am so shocked to find out that the person who appears in the last episode; a lady who exactly resembles Agate down to her eyes color is ACTUALLY Agate herself (and I am not going to rewrite my last impression, knowing so well that I said she was a different person, just too remind me of my mistake lol).
Belle's experiences with Donnie rubbed on her XD |
Belle Huggins or what we knows from the last episode as the lady names Bel is the real name of Agate. She uses the idol name; Agate, which is taken from a jewelry as her stage name, impersonating an a different persona a perfectly cute and happy Agate. The episode shows a glimpse of Belle's life as she works in a bar as a singer. The lecheer who went together with her to the casino is her boyfriend; Donnie. Her boyfriends wants to success as an entrepreneur but as soon as Belle started to work as an idol, he starts asking for money; saying it's for his business start up. The worse thing is he also has an addiction to gambling which in the end makes her becoming the sole financial provider for both of them. before long, she feels that their relationship becoming stale overtime as he doesn't look at her like before and focuses only on getting her money.
What really makes this anime interesting is how the writer emphasize different point of views between Belle in this episode to Tiana in the last one. In the last episode, the audiences follows the story of from Tiana's points of view and it creates an illusion of a different person names Bel. For example, the way Tiana views the couple and how she describes Belle as a troubled woman with boyfriend problem is enough to mask her presence as an idol; making us forget that she might be the real Agate. Who might figure that Agate; the idol, has a boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) as we never get acquainted with Donnie before. In today episode, it changes the point of view to Belle and how she views the gambling lady who looks at her thoroughly as if she wants to give her a punishment for providing a leecher and has not enough guts to ditch him. These two different sides of foretelling the story gives the audiences the ability to experience first hand how one event at one moment can be experienced from two different persons.
Belle and Nick relationship is also quite interesting to watch. They are definitely not a couple but for being an idol and a fan; they are surprisingly close and as much as they may or may not continue their relation to another level, it's already endearing to watch them starting to talk more privately. Nick; while simping to her, knows how to act normal and be himself in front of her. While he gets surprised for her sudden appearance, he doesn't exaggerate and remain calm as if she is not the person that he idolized when they talk. On the Belle's side, while she really like teasing him, her teasing is more like a playful one instead of looking for his attention. In contrast to her real and more serious personality, she remains cheerful in front of him (although Nick catches a glimpse of her worriedness). She opened up to Nick; saying that even if she is an idol, she is still a human being with life problem. Yet, she doesn't want to involve Nick further with telling her problem and says that the best thing to do now is moving forward. I am contend with them being friend as their relationship is healthy and natural to look at.
I know some of the audiences prefer more action than a character building story. However, there is a possibility that Fushin Ningen won't be finished in one season and with only four episodes left for this season, the focus on the characters building will pay off when the plots get more serious. It takes more than one viewing to really appreciate what the writer wants to tell to the audiences. The part when the story delve into Belle's story creates a solid character background that's is relatable to real life situation. Her difficulties on being a bar singer, the start of her idoling work, the changes of her lover's behavior, they are all covered in this episode; making this as a deep episode in term of a character's building. It's rare for an anime to focus a lot for other cast members that is not the part of the Main characters. In fact, Fushin Ningen dares to explore into the territory of side character like Claudine, Leon, and Agate as if telling us that the main focus of this anime is neither the adventure nor the monsters fighting but solely on the human..and their bond. This anime is definitely not your typical Shonen anime and I am intrigued on how well they can continue the story forward.
