The appearance of the nameless one; Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire episode 4 impression
Hieral Menace is a term used for an artifact weapon crafted by the highlander with a capabilities to take form as a human being. However, l As far as I am watching this anime, I still haven't seen any Hieral Menaces turning into their original form and their appearance seems like a normal person too me. However, unlike the knights that utilizing their runes to enhance their artifact, they seems capable of surpassing normal human capabilities in battle; bordering to superhuman feats (compared to Inglis their power doesn't mean a lot of course). In continuity from the last episode, the Hieral Menace lady that appears name is Sistia Rogue. In contrast to Eris, she despises the highlander as much as Leon. And while fighting Inglis she tells that a kind and benelovence highlander is just a facade or a mask to hide their ugly form. Inglis' responds to her about helping Cyrene is gold though. She fights not for the purpose of the battle but because he needs money to buy their foods. Inglis stays true to her characterization as fighting for idealism is no longer necessary for her. If she wants someone to protect the country and done the hero's job, she can always ask for Rafael's aids π.In addition for paying her bills, taking the offer makes her meet with another Hieral menace and get the exciting battle she wishes for. It's a win - win situation for our pretty battle maniac ππ.
Sistia: I don't fight the powerless..*turns Super Saiyan mode |
Since the last incident with Rahl, Inglis continues to polish her swordsmanship diligently and this enhances her capabilities even further. One important thing is she is not only proficient with the blade but also a natural brawler. Even her current tussle with Sistia proves that her fists is enough to do the talking. The Hieral Menace threw her best thrusts over and over and Inglis easily evade the incoming blows, she even teasing Sistia a bit, and sending a knuckle sandwich to her in retaliation. Off course Sistia doesn't want to give up so easily, so she use a time and space magic, in which a magical incantations appear in thin air and tries to stab Inglis from behind. With those dimensional circles, she can thrust inside the one in front of her and it will transmit the attack out from the other circle; making an unpredictable spear thrusting from many directions. Still, Inglis somehow can see all of the attacks and avoid them rather easily. It's rather funny that in front of Inglis all of her opponents seem like an idiom" it's all bark and no bite"(despite the fact that they really do their best fighting her).
Despite her battle prowess, Inglis still has a soft spot for Rani. When Sistia grabs and chokes Rani's neck using her time and space magic, Inglis gets really pissed for her dirty methods to get away. Even though she has no other choice to let her free, she made a point that the next time she tries to harm Rani, she will annihilate her for sure. Here we can see that although she enjoys fighting, Rani safety is her first priority and the years they spent to each other really bonded them together. This is also the very first time the audiences can see Inglis' angry expression and she looks damn legit scary. Kudos for whoever draws her expression as I can feel the emotion overflowing from the picture.
Lady Cyrene is actually has a kind hearted spirit as she never had an ulterior motive behind her task to apprehend the knights. In fact she plans to let them rejoin the city knight and helping her defending the city; so contrast with what Sistia remarked to Inglis about the highlander before. Cyrene even tells both Inglis and Rani about the mystery of the city's mana disturbance. underneath the city, magical incantations sapped the natural mana surrounding the area. When enough number of mana is gathered, the incantations will make the city floating; which makes it has a similar state to the highlander's city. One drawback is the real highlander don't accept people from the land underneath as their equal. It's either the citizens become the highlander's slave or they had to leave the floating city as soon as possible. This episode really tells us about the situation regarding highlander and how they treat the people from the land below. Therefore, having a benevolence character from a highlander such as Cyrene is a bit rarity. It's delivers the story with simplicity and clear explanation that's why it's a plus episode's story-telling for me.
Ah I didn't expect this twist XD ok this is nicely done |
Well ...if you think this episode going to wrap up nicely without problems in horizon. I have a bad news for you because...Without anyone knowing, the lady who prepares the tea for Cyrene(Mimosa) secretly pours a prism powder inside her tea. This prism powder is the same essence that Lion uses to transform Rahl into a mindless beast and before long we see how the kind hearted highlander turns into a gigantic monstrosity; a magicite beast. She still retains her consciousness though and still has a compassion even at her current state; enough to make the heroines deciding to save her from complete obliteration. Using the combination effort from Rani's archery and Sistia's time and space magical skill to distract her, Inglis gathers all of her aether into mana unleashing a powerful freezing magical spell; which turns the magicite beast into a frozen statue.
This episode also shows one of the antagonists (or chaotic antihero?) from this anime; a mysterious man without identity who leads the Steelblood font as well as the man who declares war to the highlanders. It's still uncertain if he will be the big bad in this anime as he is more like a character who stands in a grey area morality. It's true that He doesn't care for any collateral damage and the survival of the lower land citizens. However, he ensure Inglis that his Steelblood font doesn't intend to bring them into further trouble and only focuses the target on the highlander. After describing the situation, he made a pact with Inglis that he wants nothing more than destroying the circles below the city and asking Inglis to leave the city after he helps her recovering Cyrene from her mindless state.
The nameless one is as powerful as Inglis if we see how he can control Aether. It's a rarity for an individual to grasp a similar power to a divine knight; a knight blessed with the power of the God/Goddess. Inglis even mentions that without any God in this continent, there is a possibility that his power has a connections to the missing presence of Deity in the current era. While technically being an antihero, he is also the person who somehow save Cyrene from his gigantic magicite beast state by using his Aether to disperse the one inside the beast's body. In the end, Cyrene lost her memories and turns into a cute little creature that accompany both Inglis and Rani; continuing their journey to the Capital city. This episode is great because it manages to explains many thing from this anime and I start to grasp the overall idea behind it. The Floating city and the highlanders, the effect and the appearance of the prism powder, as well as it starts to unveil the mystery of the Goddess' disappearance. Good episode ππΌ.
