Haikyuu!! Episode 4 Review
Haikyuu Episode 4 review
Episode
Summary
Episode 4 started with Kageyama ‘s nightmare of his past as
setter when nobody any longer tried to spike his toss. It seem that his past
still haunted him even till now.
In the next morning, the match between the first year students
with the assist of their senior took place in the school’s volleyball court.
Kei purposefully tried to insult Kageyama hoping that he could create a psychological
war before the real match started and it somehow enraged
both Tanaka and
Hinata.
And since the ladies could not take the major portion, Tanaka happily fills the void
Even with his amazing jump, Hinata still could not score
because every spike he made was blocked by kei. His 188 cm built proved
effective in blocking all of hinata’s offense. Hinata teams tried to create
their advantages with Kageyama’s jumping serve. Yet, Daichi, who was more
experienced, could receive the jumping serve and later on turn the tide of the
match.
Dude the earthquake broke the court's floor
With insulting remark, Kei explained to Hinata the word king
of the court was not actually praise for Kageyama. The “king” represented oppression
or dictatorship and Kei further explained that all of Kageyama’s former allies
nicknamed him king because they could not stand his self-centered demeanor.
Because he likes eating burger
The flashback started again showing what really happened with
the Kitagawa Daiichi match against Kosen Gakuen last year. Kitagawa Daiichi
team members could not dominate the match and Kosen Gakuen solid team works
made the match become tougher. Kageyama, who could not accept losing, toss a
very reckless toss making his team member furious. In the last match point for
Kosen Gakuen, it was revealed that no one tried to spike Kageyama’s toss.
Back to the match, when Kageyama tried to toss the ball to
Tanaka, Hinata suddenly appeared from the upper-right side of the net asking
for the toss. Although the spike was actually failed, Hinata keep insisting
that he would take any toss given with gratitude.
Can you fell the love tonight
Kageyama then started to give Hinata his trademark “king toss”.
However, his toss proved too difficult for Hinata to spike. Sugawara, who watch
the match from the sideline, finally talked to Kageyama that although Hinata
own good reflexes, his reckless toss kill Hinata’s offense and he should match
his skill with Hinata’s not the other way around.
Objection !!!!!
Finally, after brainstorming for the best solution, Kageyama
got an idea. He asked Hinata to spike in any place where there were no blockers.
He explained that since Hinata would never win against taller player, the best
bet would be avoiding any spot where a blocker stand and he asked Hinata to
spike in correct place without looking at the ball.
The result was amazing. In the next moment Kageyama tossed the
ball directly to Hinata and Hinata, free from the blocker, continued the toss with a powerful spike. Daichi even
found out that Hinata actually hit the ball with closed eyes, which suprised the other because it meant that Hinata trusted Kageyama completely to give the ball. It was revealed that Hinata’s
could not spike the ball if he looks at the ball so he closed his eyes and trusted that whatever places he spikes, the ball would be in his hand.
Episode
impression
The episode centered on Kageyama past. The riddle with the
past episode about why Kageyama always look irritated if someone called him
“King” revealed. The word was actually a mock for his self-centered attitude
and it was the symbol of his inability to work as a team.
It is interested to note that the episode begins with the word
that any player who thinks that he special would already lose the battle. The
word means that in a sport called Volley, individuality or the feeling of self-importance
would always create rift and disturb the teams’ Harmony.
However, the episode told a very positive value that as long
as people learn, they would always capable of correcting the past mistakes.
Kageyama learnt first hand that the mistake he made was he expecting other
people having the same abilities of him. His expectation was so high that he
could not accept other weaknesses
Hinata even said that what happened in the Junior High School
is in the past and he would gratefully took the King’s toss because it was
Hinata’s dream to actually have a team mate who could give him toss.
A very solid episode if I have to say. It completed the last
question about the origin of the “King” name as well as the mystery why
Kageyama could not attend the more prestigious High School. The last part of
the episode told the audience that the protagonists finally find their
chemistry and with the newfound realization, they finally managed to unleash
the best of each other
